CommunityScale presents at the Northern Kentucky Housing Convening

SOLUTIONS

CommunityScale presented an update on the housing landscape at the Northern Kentucky Area Development District’s regional housing convening.

CommunityScale had the great pleasure of presenting at the Northern Kentucky Area Development District’s regional housing convening this week. At the convening, we reported back on the progress that the region has made on housing since the release of our 2023 Housing Data study and the subsequent HousingNKY strategies.

Housing: Progress, But More Work Ahead

Housing was also front and center this week at the Northern Kentucky Area Development District’s regional housing convening. The issue remains closely tied to workforce and economic growth. Regional housing research has identified a need for 6,650 additional housing units, with demand across a range of incomes and household sizes.

We are making progress, but there is still a lot of work to do, particularly in increasing income-aligned housing options for the people who work in our communities. That includes our teachers, school employees, police officers, firefighters and other public safety professionals who should be able to find housing within reasonable reach of where they serve. Recent reporting on Northern Kentucky’s housing challenges helps illustrate how affordability and housing supply continue to affect the region.

The conversation is increasingly moving beyond identifying the problem and toward practical local solutions that can help us build the housing necessary to support our workforce and continued economic growth.

Here are some highlights of the material we shared at the meeting:
